EmJEU COALITION PRESS RELEASE
COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE
We, the members of Emjeu coalition (ethics for the moderation of gambling) request an urgent meeting with the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Health. We are particularly concerned with the willingness expressed by the government of Quebec to endorse the offer to increase access to gambling: the launch of an on-line pari-mutuel site by SONNAC (www.paritel.ca/fr/f_index.htm) ; the creation of regional casinos(gaming centres); the movement of Montreal casino from its present location to a downtown site.
According to our research these developments will greatly aggravate the actual situation where at least 5% of our population already are experiencing gambling related problems.
